GTA IV: Original or Episodes From Liberty City (EFLC)? What is the difference?
[DDET Click here to see the differences between the two versions (click to expand text)]
If you have one these discs you need GTA IV: EFLC Mods

If you have one of these discs you need GTA IV: Original Mods

“GTA IV: The Complete Edition” Came out recently which has both versions so that means you can have both EFLC and Original mods, but make sure you install the mods according to the right version!
[/DDET]

I have GTA IV: Original, and I downloaded The Ballad of Gay Tony. Can I still mod The Ballad of Gay Tony if I bought the downloaded add-on from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace?
Nope. You can’t mod downloaded content from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. If you want to mod GTA IV: Original, you will need a modded ISO of GTA IV: Original. If you want to mod The Ballad of Gay Tony or The Lost and Damned, you will need a copy of GTA IV: Episodes From Liberty City. View the question above to see the difference between GTA IV: Original and EFLC. If you are currently using mods for GTA IV: Original and start up The Ballad of Gay Tony or The Lost and Damned add-ons, your game will freeze. Simply put, you cannot mod downloaded content.

I have GTA IV: The Complete Edition which has the Original version and Episodes From Liberty City, can I install both of these mods onto the same Xbox?
Yes you can, since they are two different games. You will need two different modded ISO’s for the two different games.

No. The price is the same for everyone, the price you see is what you pay.

How do I know this is not a scam?
I use Premium PayPal Merchant Services where you can track and monitor your packages. You can also file disputes and claims. Most importantly, your purchases are insured by PayPal, and they will make sure that you are satisfied with your transactions. You can also check out what other people have said about my mods and services. See the question below:

I don’t have a PayPal account… Can I still purchase these mods?
Yes you can. When you click the “Buy It Now!” PayPal button, there is an option to use your credit/debit card instead.

I have an older version of these mods and I see that there are newer versions of these mods, do I have to buy a new disc at full price?
No, you won’t have to buy a new disc at full price. Visit the purchase page, and you can find a “Buy It Now!” button for returning buyers to get an update at a highly discounted price. Click here to go to the purchase page

What is the GTA IV Update Plan, and do I have to purchase it along with the ISO?
See question above, and read this:
The “Update Plan” is simply ordering a brand new ISO with newer mods than the disc you previously purchased in the past at a heavily discounted price! (60% off the full price)
It’s not meant to be purchased along with an ISO, you buy this in the future when you feel that it is time for an upgrade when you see that there are newer and better mods currently available! This way, you don’t have to buy a brand new ISO at full price just for a small or large update since you already bought mods the first time!

Where can I find the return & exchange policy?
Find it on the purchase page: [click here]

Can I use WX360 or Xbox Backup Creator to implement the mods?
Only Xbox Backup Creator will work. If you use anything else the mod disc will not work

Does it matter which region I download my ISO for?
For EFLC it doesn’t matter because it is region free which means it can be played on any console world-wide. GTA IV: Original on the other hand is specific to it’s region. You must make sure the ISO are downloading matches your consoles region.
North America: NTSC/U
Europe, Australia, Asia: PAL

Is hotswapping hard to do?
It might seem hard or difficult at first to do it without ruining your discs, but if you take your time without rushing it you’ll find it to be very easy after a couple of times.

Can I just put these modded files onto a USB and just stick it into my Xbox to have these mods?
No. You need to have a modded ISO disc. There are USB mods, but that’s only for modding GAME SAVES and only work in single player.

If I install the modded ISO to my HDD or USB stick, can I take that HDD or USB stick to my friends house and use the mods on his Xbox?
No. The installed game will only work on the console you used to install it with.

I just got my ISO in the mail, or I’ve completed burning it… How do I play the mods on my Xbox?
You need to clear your system cache, hotswap your ISO and install your game.
How to clear system cache, hotswap and install your modded game: [view video here]” target=”_blank”>view video here]

I don’t have a flashed or modded Xbox, do I have to hotswap the disc EVERYTIME when I want to play GTA IV?
No. When you first hotswap the disc, it’s extremely advisable that you install your modded ISO to your hard drive so that when it’s done installing you can close up your Xbox and then use the REAL disc (you bought from a store) to start up the game. The Xbox will play the game off of the hard drive where you installed your mods.

I DO have a flashed and/or modded Xbox, do I still have to hotswap?
No, because your flashed drive can play the modded ISO directly without hotswapping.

Why do I have to clear my system cache and will it delete all of my information on my hard drive?
Clearing the system cache will allow the map mods and car spawns to work. It will only delete the game updates, and not the actual game files, game installations and game saves.

If I install my mods to my Xbox 360 Hard Drive/USB Drive, and then remove it and put it in my friends Xbox 360, will the installed modded game work?
No, because the installed game will only work on the console it was installed with. So let’s say you install modded GTA IV Modded into Xbox “A” Hard Drive “A”. If you put Hard Drive “A” into Xbox “B” or “C” it will not work. It will only work on the Xbox you installed it from. This goes for any installed game from a disc. Some DLC games work, but when we are talking about installed games from a retail or modded ISO disc, it will only work on the console you installed from.

Where and what are the settings for IMG Burn I need to apply?
[DDET Click here to expand the text to see how to do it]

Open IV or Spark IV says I’m missing a .EXE file. Where is it?
These programs are made for PC modding and it needs the PC game file to start the application. You don’t really need it to do anything else other than that. Here is a download link for a .exe file that will allow your program to run. Put it in the Open IV or Spark IV folder and tell the application where it is. Download here: [click here]

I’m and advanced user and I’m trying to burn my own ISO; How do I implement these mod files onto my ISO?
Watch this video tutorial: [view video here]

I downloaded new mods, and I want to put them in the ISO. My ISO has already been modded with older mods. Do I have to re-extract a clean ISO or can I just replace the old modded files with these new ones?
You ALWAYS have to extract a CLEAN ISO before you implement new mod files! Replacing modded files more than once in an ISO will corrupt it. Although, if you just want to burn another disc and you DID NOT make any changes to the ISO whatsoever since the first time you modded it, you can go ahead and burn the ISO without starting over. What corrupts the ISO is replacing files more than once.

I downloaded the mod files and img files, but I see that there are many options for the common.rpf and the xbox360.rpf… Do I need all of them, or just one of them?
You can only use ONE of each file. Only one common.rpf, and only one xbox360.rpf. You can choose if you want water in your game by using the common.rpf with or without water. Same goes for the options for having freeze cars or not. For the xbox360.rpf which is the file that has the map mods, you’ll have to choose which map mod you want to use. Remember you can only choose one map mod, since you can only use one xbox360.rpf file. You can find video previews of each of the the map mods on the GTA IV Content page: [click here to go to the content page]

I want to implement the colored head/tail lights to my custom mods. I see the visualsettings.dat files, but where and how can I put those in my mods?
You need either “OpenIV” or “Spark IV” to inject files into the mod files which are .rpf files. For doing head/tail lights you need to put them in both the common.rpf (the one you are going to use) and the DLC 2.rpf files. Watch this video tutorial on how to implement the visualsettings.dat files properly into your .rpf files: [view video here]

[DDET Gameplay related questions (click to expand/collapse text)]
Are these mods for online or offline?
Online games primarily. Your game can potentially freeze in single-player.

Is there a detailed list on what cars have speed, drift, or flying mods?
Yes. Look here: [click here to go to the content page]

Is there god-mode (cannot die) for GTA IV: Original?
Full God mode was patched in the latest update but, there is partial god mode. All your vehicles are invincible and you can’t die from explosions. You are also protected from all weapons EXCEPT the M4 and the Mini-Uzi. For you to be protected from a certain gun, I had to make those guns invisible. Making a gun invisible makes you protected from it. It would be pretty useless if you didn’t have any weapons to use at all! So I included two weapons that people don’t usually pick up, since players usually use the Pistol, AK-47 or MP5. You can still use grenades and rocket launchers but you can’t see the explosions. Other players can see the explosions and die from them as well.

Is there god-mode (cannot die) for GTA IV: EFLC?

What are “freeze cars” where are they, how do they work and how do I use them?
Find all the information about freeze cars, how to use them and a detailed map of freeze car locations here: [click here visit the freeze car map and guide page]

I downloaded and successfully burned these mods. The freeze cars are not showing up on Happiness Island. What’s wrong?
The freeze cars on Happiness Island is only available to people who buy ISO’s on the purchase page or people who buy the “Premium Content” on the download page. However, one freeze car is available to you that only freezes out normal players. Check out the freeze car page for more information: [click here visit the freeze car map and guide page]

There was a modder in the game I was in and he claimed he could freeze the game including other modders. He continued to do so and my game froze along with everyone else. Why did I freeze I have mods just like they did, and how can I get protected from freezing?
Just because you have mods does not automatically make you protected from being affected by another modder’s freeze-car. This is how it works; Basically, a car that flies like a helicopter will freeze out anyone in the current lobby who doesn’t have that same car set to fly as a helicopter or a plane. Therefore, if a modder uses a freeze car that is a plane or a helicopter in your game you will not be affected at all. Read more about freeze cars on the freeze car page: Find all the information about freeze cars, how to use them and a detailed map of freeze car locations here: [click here visit the freeze car map and guide page]

I have the animation mod for GTA IV Original. Can I use the invisible glitch?

[DDET Script Mod related questions (click to expand/collapse text)]

Do I need to remove my gamesave or have one?
You need one after the first mission at the safehouse. If it freezes a few seconds after you successfully load into single player try to re-make the save by playing it again.

Why does my heli or car not lift off from the ground?
Because you have “super glue” activated in your vehicles menu.

Where can I find the controls on how to use the script mods?
Look under the “Tutorials” tab on the top menu of the site there should be a script mods controls page.

How do I activate the main script mod menu?
LB + RB (v4.0+) and dpad down+X (v3.0+), but you should really read the controls page under the tutorials/faqs tab for more control listings.

How come my game lags or freezes when activating a certain mod?
Some mod options are laggy or cause freezing, because the scripts contain many options all at once you can expect certain things to be buggy especially when you have multiple mods activated at once. Rejoining a game might work as well.

I have GTA IV: Original and it keeps loading at the “DF MODS” screen… What’s wrong?
You need to have a gamesave at after the first mission at the safehouse.

My script mods keep freezing during the game?
Well, you have to be conservative with using the script mods… Slow down your spawning and be sure to press ESC, Q or B (on the controller) to close out of mod menus to keep stability. Also, leaving the game and rejoining helps as well.

I installed the script mods properly, and I get stuck at the loading screen what’s wrong?
This is the only exception to the delete gamesave rule. You need to have a gamesave at a safehouse. The best one is the one RIGHT AFTER the first mission. If you don’t have a gamesave the script mods WILL NOT WORK. You still need to clear system cache.

Does the cellphone work on online multiplayer?
Yes.

Are freeze cars included in script mods?
Yes.

Why are there no vehicle spawns for script mods like at the airport and other places?
There is no point to have spawns on the map when you can spawn them on command, however I did put some EFLC spawns for cars only for TBOGT on the southern section of the second island and hove beach. Some spawns create freezing issues and other errors with script mods.

How do I implement the script mods into my ISO?
Check the tutorials page and find the tutorial video for that.

Before you search for your question in this section of the F.A.Q.’s page, you must know that the modded files that are available for download on from this site that are tested by several of the DF Modding Team Members to confirm that they work 100% with no errors before we upload them. We also test ISO’s before they are shipped to you if you purchase decide to purchase one.

I bought an ISO or successfully burned my own ISO and my game freezes after a couple minutes during multiplayer. What’s wrong?
You need to clear your system cache. [view video on how to clear system cache here]
Also, if you burned your ISO, there’s a chance that you messed something up during the file implementation or if you made your own edits. The DF Modding Team Recommends that you do not make your own edits since there is a lot of room for error. Our mods are tested and confirmed working by each of the DF Modding Team Members before the files are uploaded to the server.

You need to delete all your GTA IV related game saves since the game save information can conflict with the mods.

I cleared my system cache, and my car spawns don’t show up 100% of the time. What’s wrong?
This is because of the games “popcycle” If you are around normal players or other modders, there is a conflict between your game and everyone else’s game. You have to be somewhat alone or all alone to spawn the vehicles in the specified spawn points. Sometimes the game will not spawn cars around you even on the street when you are alone as well. This happens occasionally because the game is busy spawning cars next to a large group of players that are all in one area. The only way to make sure your spawns work is to play alone in party mode.

I downloaded the mod files and the img files. My game freezes after a couple minutes during single player. What’s wrong?
You need to delete all your GTA IV related game saves since the game save information can conflict with the mods.

I downloaded the mod files and img files and My map mods and car spawns aren’t showing up? What’s wrong?
You need to make sure you clear your system cache, and if that doesn’t work you probably didn’t implement the files properly.

I downloaded the mod files and img files then implemented the files to burn my own ISO. I freeze at the loading screen, or at the “DF MODS” screen. What’s wrong?
You probably didn’t implement the files properly, or your ISO was corrupted. Most likely you didn’t do something right.

I downloaded the mod files and img files then implemented the files to burn my own ISO. I’m stuck at the loading screen, or at the “DF MODS” screen. It didn’t freeze but it won’t stop repeating over and over again. What’s wrong?
This is what happens when you make your own edits incorrectly. You probably messed up something and didn’t bypass it correctly. We recommend that you don’t make your own edits since our mods work 100% Also like I said before you probably didn’t implement the files properly, or your ISO was corrupted. Most likely you didn’t do something right.

The script mod menu doesn’t show up sometimes and the functions still work. Why can’t I see the script mod text at the bottom?
Just press ESC (or Q for chatpad versions) and wait a couple of minutes for it to show up again. The functions still work but the text will work again eventually. Just be patient. Sometimes dying, rejoining or anything that makes text appear at the top make it functional again.

I’m already done with all the file implementation, but now I can’t even burn the disc because I get I/O errors, or the disc will stop burning randomly. Also, sometimes the disc will burn, but the Xbox 360 won’t let me install the game all the way to 100%, sometimes it won’t even get past installing from 0% What’s wrong?
[DDET (Click here to expand the text and see some of our solutions to these problems)]
Some users report problems with installing their mods or failed writing (burning) sequences when burning their discs. It’s because that some Xbox 360 Consoles are not compatible with some DVD+R DL brand discs like Memorex.

The DF Custom Modding Support team highly recommends Verbatim brand discs. They are 100% reliable at ANY write speed and work with ANY Xbox 360 Console DVD drive (after hotswap or if you have a flashed drive)

They are slightly more expensive than some other brands, but they are worth it and you can take our word for it. Over 100+ modded discs that were Verbatim have been sold with no problems reported!

You can find them at most electronic stores and online on websites like Amazon.com, Newegg.com or eBay.com

Also another common problem can occur when your IMG Burn software doesn’t have layer breaks specified. Watch this video: [click here to view video]

[/DDET]

My mods don’t install past 0% what’s wrong?
You might be hotswapping with the wrong ISO, and/or you might have the wrong REGION CODE for your Xbox. EFLC is region free so there is no problems there, but for GTA IV: Original, they are specific to European and North American Consoles. If you are 100% sure you are hotswapping with the right ISO. Also, there is a new way to hotswap:

Hi, I’m really mad because you didn’t give me credit for a mod that I “created” and you claim to that it is yours.

Don’t worry, all my mods come with a text file describing in detail who “created” a certain mod that might be in my custom mods. Also, I’m going to just say this right now, but I’m pretty sure 99.9% of the credit belongs to Rockstar Games for their base coding and game engine design.
